Every Woman Treaty is a global coalition of more than 3,800 women's rights advocates and organizations in 147 nations advancing a treaty to end violence against women and girls in the form of a new Optional Protocol to CEDAW. In December 2023, our work led to the release of a joint statement on the need for a new Optional Protocol by four nations — Antigua and Barbuda, Costa Rica, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Sierra Leone — and the release of a joint statement by the current and former Special Rapporteurs on violence against women and girls calling for a new Optional Protocol to CEDAW dedicated to ending violence against women and girls.
